hippos (sussita) excavations Project

The ancient city of Hippos (Sussita) of the Decapolis is located on a hill, 2 km. east of the Sea of Galilee. It is one of the most exciting ancient cities of the Holy Land, continuously excavated by our team since 2000.
The project operates under the auspices of the Zinman Institute of Archaeology at the University of Haifa and partners with the German Protestant Institute of Archaeology, ASOR, and Center for Field Sciences.
